No Need To Explain.....

You really don't need to know about Hip-Hop to know about this man. He was apart of the greatest Hip-Hop group that made it's mark on music. This weekend I'll be celebrating his life and what he contribute to this thing we called Hip-Hop. Tomorrow my post will be on the legacy of Jam Master Jay.

  1. I wish I could have a good understanding of hip-hop like the younger generation does. It just eludes me. Maybe someday some one will be able to explain it other than it just sounds good. Or to look at me like I have lobsters coming out of my ears because I do not understand the attraction to it.

  2. Hip-Hop is not just a genre of music. It's a culture, the way we walk, the way we talk, and the way we live. It's foundation comes from Art, music, and dance. Hip-Hop has so many influences from the great Miles Davis to Areosmith. So when Hip-Hop comes up, I don't say it just sounds good, but it represents me and takes my thoughts, and adds them to a million other people just like me to shed light on how we see things, and gives expression to the world.

  3. I've heard of some of the old school rap from the 80's and early 90's and they had some beats. (A tribute called quest) Not a big hip-hop guy but some of the genre is actually pretty good. I am curious about one thing. What's the big difference between modern day rap and hip hop and which do you prefer? Hip hop probably right? The difference is just like punk rock and alternative rock right? Some difference but...I like the gorillaz, eminem, gym class heroes, things like that.

  4. Yea it's a difference Robert, Rap is like almost leaning towards pop where on the other hand Hip-Hop is a culture and it keeps the music pure as it can be, including the 4 elements, MCing, Djaying, graffiti, and break dancing. You don't see a lot in the mainstream because of the face that's not what's selling but this is where it began....

  5. Oh, I always thought it was the complete opposite where hip hop was was more mainstream and "popish" and rap was the more pure form. Thanks for the info.
